I finished this cute little wall hanging this week. It was pieced a while back, quilted a couple of weeks ago, and finally this week I put the binding on it and made a hanger. I have admired the quilt patterns from Lella Boutique for a while now, and this is designed by combining the Mini Cottage Blossom and Mini Social Butterfly patterns. The fabric is all from my scrap collection. Here is the back of the quilted butterfly. I gave this to Aunt Brenda for a birthday gift (just a few weeks late). I'd love to make one for myself, too!
I'm sharing over at Crazy Mom Quilts Finish It Up Friday. Hope to see you next week!

Hello! It's been a few weeks since I've shared anything here on the blog. I have been fighting bronchitis and other respiratory illness (for about 2 months now) and haven't been able to work on quilting as much as I would like. I'm finally on the mend, so I would love to show you this quilt that is ALMOST finished. You can see in the pic below that I haven't finished hand stitching the binding down to the back, but that will be done tonight, I predict, as I'm watching something good on TV. At my church we have a group of ladies called The Sew Sews. You can probably guess that we get together and sew! Not everyone in our group is a quilter, and they wanted to learn. I have been teaching them some quilting techniques, and this is the design that we are working on. We have worked on rotary cutting, strip piecing and then cutting strip units down for our blocks. I taught them how to use triangle paper (Triangles On A Roll) to make half square triangles. We also pieced our 9-patch blocks. I think they have learned a lot. Maybe I can show you some of their quilts in the future, too. For my quilt I used fabrics that I've had in my stash for quite a while (maybe 15 years?). The quilt pattern did call for a border, but I left that off since I only had enough of the guardian angel backing fabric for the top without borders. I do love the way it turned out, though. I decided to custom quilt this because I just got the new 4-N-1 longarm ruler from Piece N Quilt and wanted to try it out. I mostly used the straight edge, but I also used the small curved end to stitch those little scallops around the squares. So far the new ruler is great! In the stars I did a freehand feather design., All the quilting was done with matching tan thread.
Hope you enjoyed seeing the quilt. It will be donated to His Kids School for the Spring BASH in May. It could be yours if you purchase the lucky ticket! Please stop back again next week to see some other good stuff! I'll be linking up over at Crazy Mom Quilts Finish It Up Friday. Have a great night! |
