Hello! Just today I finished binding this cute little quilted wall hanging. Back in January I was experimenting with the Creative Grids Strippy Star template designed by Deb Heatherly. Creative Grids are THE BEST, and this is such a fun template to play with. I also kind of like that it looks weird, and you can't really figure out how it works just by looking at it. It's a pretty cool tool, though! Check out the video about it here. I was trying to use up some smallish scraps of Christmas fabrics, and I liked fussy cutting the center squares. That blue star with the mitten in the middle is a finished 3" block. It is easy to make even little blocks with this template. The star in the top picture with the present in the center is 4-1/2" finished. I practiced some custom quilting on this little guy, and I kept the scrappy theme by using pieces of leftover binding from table runners. Below are close-up pics of the red star and the quilting on the back of it. If you love star blocks, I encourage you to give this template a try. I've got to show you one more block (below) that I pieced - a star in a star with a little snowflake in the middle! I've got my first new Christmas decoration for 2017 ready to hang. I hope I inspired you to try something new. Have a great weekend!
I'll be linking up over at Crazy Mom Quilts Finish It Up Friday. :-)
