This week I finished quilting this gorgeous quilt made by my Aunt Alice. It is the traditional pattern called Delectable Mountains, but she used the Missouri Star Quilt Company's tutorial called Grand Adventures which can be found here. This is a layer cake friendly version. The edge-to-edge quilting pattern is called Chevron Feather. I haven't used it in a while. It just seemed perfect for this quilt, and I love the way it turned out. My favorite quilt backs are solid or almost solid so that you can see the quilting design. Though it's a little shadowy, you can see it below. Thanks for letting me quilt for you, Alice!
I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving celebration. Family is the best thing about the holidays to me. I'll get to spend time sewing with them over the weekend, too! Thank YOU for taking the time to stop by each week to see the quilty projects I'm working on. Click over to Crazy Mom Quilts Finish It Up Friday for some more inspiration!

Check out this lovely quilt made by my Aunt Sharon that came off the longarm this past week! I don't remember the name of the pattern that she used, but all I can think of are Dutch windmills. I had some help on this one - Jakob helped me choose the edge-to-edge design. We decided upon "Breath Of The Gods" because we thought it looked like wind blowing those big windmill blades. And a friend Carol helped me with some of the pictures. Beautiful job, Aunt Sharon! Now it time to get those binding strips together. Thanks for letting me quilt for you :-)
I'm linking up over at Crazy Mom Quilts Finish It Up Friday. Thanks for visiting! Hello! This week I managed to get the binding on this lovely table runner. This is a pattern that I designed myself using a charm pack (Kate Spain's Early Bird for Moda) and some background fabric. But I also can't forget to mention that awesome Creative Grids Ultimate Flying Geese Tool that made the piecing possible! See more about making geese in my earlier post here. Consider adding this versatile ruler to your collection. You'll love it!! I quilted this by stitching in the ditch around the geese, similar stitch in the ditch with the stars, stipple on the background, and swirls in the border. I really wanted the binding to match perfectly on this one, so I did use fabric from the same line for the binding. And there is the one big "early bird" that I found in this charm pack. I just love Kate Spain's designs. You will soon find this table runner for sale in my Etsy shop!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by. Check out some other quilty stuff over at Crazy Mom Quilts Finish It Up Friday if you have the time! See you next week. |
