If you are a cat person, do you let your cat on the table? We no longer have cats in the house, but when we did it seemed no matter how hard I tried to prevent it the bad kitty would jump up there when I wasn't looking. Well today I am sharing with you 8 cats that are definitely allowed on the table! For Christmas Lydia and I made cat placemats for Aunt Brenda and Uncle Dave. We used the pattern called Happy Cat Placemat by Country Appliques. I didn't follow the pattern exactly because the whiskers are supposed to be pieced on differently so that you can slide silverware and a napkin under them, but time was running out before Christmas, and I just did a little zigzag stitch and made them that way. Lydia helped me select fabric. We tried to choose fabrics that looked like real cats (kind of), and some of them are supposed to represent our real pet cats. We included our own family cats - our orange boy Butterscotch and Lydia's best friend Green Kitty. She did a lot of cutting until her hand was sore. It was fun for her to use big-girl sewing scissors! I fused the pieces on and did a little button hole stitch around them. That's a lot of cats!! If you are lucky enough to be invited to Aunt Brenda's house for dinner, be sure to request the kitty placemats! I forgot to take a picture of the back, but they are all backed with a cat newspaper print fabric called Kitty Chronicles from Timeless Treasures which makes these even more fun. ![]() Look out, world - We have a new sewist! Lydia got her very own sewing machine from Grandma and Pap Pap for Christmas. We are going to go sew something as soon as I finish up this blog post. Today I'm linking up with Crazy Mom Quilts Finish It Up Friday. Thanks for visiting!
