I have been mostly longarm quilting these days with just a little piecing squeezed in. Over the past couple of months I have been working on several diamond quilt projects. I shared before this rainbow diamond quilt in progress, and now it is all pieced. These fabrics were just a mix from my stash, and the piecing is done using the Scrap Crazy 6" templates from Creative Grids. I really like black and white fabrics and then all of the colors of the rainbow! But I wanted to piece the same quilt in more traditional fabrics with a border. I had a layer cake stored away that I decided to finally use. The fabric line is Indie Chic by Riley Blake, and the diamonds and inside border were other fabrics that I mixed in. I love seeing the same quilt pattern done up in different fabrics. The style is so different in this one, but I really like it, too. The Scrap Crazy 6" template set allows you to cut these same shapes in two different sizes, so I also wanted to try the small size that is perfect for a table runner. For this next project I used charm squares and added in a different fabric for the diamonds. This is the one diamond quilt that is actually quilted. I made this for Aunt Brenda as a birthday gift. I forgot to take some good pictures, but here is one of the back and in the process of having the binding attached. The other pic is from her lovely kitchen table. And there is one more diamond table runner, but this one is made from jelly roll strips. The fabrics are Violette Treasure by Amy Butler. These diamonds are fun and easy to piece, but I am ready to move on to a different design. Lydia is still working on her own diamond quilt, slowly finishing a few more blocks here and there. She is using a cat fabric and bright solids. I have no idea when I'll get to actually quilt all of these, but I am having fun thinking of designs to put in those diamonds.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I'm linking up over at Crazy Mom Quilts Finish It Up Friday.
