Yeah! It's Friday! Here are some crafty things that got accomplished this week. The picture above is the quilt made by the Sew Sews, the new sewing/quilting group we are forming at our church. You can read more about this quilt and the great group of ladies here. I finished the longarm quilting, and my mom finished the binding this week. It looks great! If you are in the Butler, PA, area and would like a group of ladies to sew with, please contact me. We would welcome you! Today we had another gathering of the Sew Sews, and I worked on some curvy log cabin blocks using the Creative Grids Curvy Log Cabin Trim Tool. I'm using scraps that I've accumulated over the last 20 years or so. I really like making these, and it's a great feeling to be using up some old fabric. There are so many layout options. I have 7 blocks made, and I probably need 80 or so of these to make a decent size quilt. Good thing I'm not in any hurry. Last weekend I got my spinning wheel out because I just felt like doing something different. It's been a couple of years since I've done any spinning. I recently ordered some lovely dyed wool to spin from an Etsy shop, but I wanted to finish up what I had on some spools first. These skeins are made from alpaca wool that I purchased from a local farm. Not sure what this yarn will become, but hey, I got it done! I've been longarm quilting this week, too. I just don't have any pictures of that work yet. All you moms out there, wishing you a happy Mother's Day, and I hope you are able to get some sewing and quilting done this weekend. Even if you aren't a mom, I wish you a wonderful weekend with lots of free sewing time!
