Many quilters have a design wall. I have a design floor. It's definitely not ideal, but it works. My work in progress for sharing today is this quilt I am piecing. The fabrics are a collection of men's shirts, and the pattern I am using is "Caught In A Web" from the book Sizzlin' Sixties from Anka's Treasures.
I'll give more details on this quilt in a week or two when I get it done. All of my projects right now are almost-finished Christmas gifts. I'm going to keep them a secret for now. Hopefully I can get this top together soon so my family doesn't have to walk around it too much longer. I bet I'm not the only one scrambling to finish up some gifts! Check out some other WIPs over at Freshly Pieced. Next blog post will probably be December 26. I wish you all a Merry Christmas!

That looks great! We used shirts for bee blocks for one of our MQG members, was surprised how great they can look - we did a Kaffe Fassett pattern.

Thanks, Lesley. I was surprised by how well they worked out. This is actually the second quilt I am making with the shirts I had. I also purchased 2 men's shirts on clearance at Kohls a while back to use in a quilt in the future, too. They were black, purple, and green stripes! There's a good reason they were on the final clearance rack :-)

Did some sewing today. Going to teach how to make that wine vest so I had to make one so I knew what to teach. I think you could do some long arm quilting for these ladies. Whoever it is they use down here is really backed up. One of the gals took several quilts to her when they got here and they won't be ready until March.

Wow, MJ - now you're a teacher! Glad you're having fun. I would love to quilt for the snow birds if they would want to mail them. Merry Christmas!

I was just thinking about mens plaids and stripes, that I should be using them more often. This is a great pattern for that. Looks awesome!

Love this idea! I have some of my mom's and dad's old clothes and have been thinking about what pattern to incorporate them into....this may be an idea for me.
