Today I am so happy to share with you my latest quilt I call Spirographic. It is my entry in the Jaybird Quilts Sew Along. I have a lot of pictures to show. Patterns from Jaybird Quilts are some of my favorites, and I have had fabric to make this for about a year now. The Sew Along gave me the kick in the butt that I needed to get started on it and a deadline to finish. The pattern is called Taffy. This is actually the second quilt I have made using this pattern. I purchased the "spirograph" print and really didn't want to cut it up into very small pieces, and Taffy is a nice pattern to use to feature a large scale print. The yellow and two shades of pink/purple are batiks I purchased separately. I think Jaybird Quilts patterns are some of the most well written patterns available, and paired with Creative Grids rulers they are wonderful! This pattern includes a template that you can cut yourself, or you can use the Creative Grids Lazy Angle ruler you see above. I stitched up all of the units and then put them together to make the whole quilt top. Below you see it on the Innova being quilted. The pantograph I used is one of my new ones called Wave On Wave. I used a pink thread. I don't know if you can see it on the close up, but it looks kind of pink/peach on the yellow fabric and purplish on the black and dark fabrics. I think it looks great. I hope you don't mind, but here are some more shots of the finished quilt. The backing is purple, and I added some stars that I made from corner triangles that were trimmed off during piecing of the front. I have a hard time "discarding" those little pieces, and I love having a little something special on the backs of my quilts. ![]() And here is one last picture of the first quilt I made using the Taffy pattern so you can see it in a different way. Since it is Friday I am also going to link this post up with Finish It Up Friday over at Crazy Mom Quilts. Thank you to Sara Lawson at Sew Sweetness for hosting the quilt along. You can click here to see the other quilt entries. I hope you've been inspired today. Thanks for stopping by!!
